Dear Academy Students,

As COVID-19 concerns continue in our province, we will be moving all lessons online via Skype rather than in our building in an effort to help students and parents to effectively socially distance themselves. We feel strongly that as a business we have a social responsibility to do all that we can to slow the spread of this virus, and we ask that students please bear with us as we work out the small kinks in getting this set up for both staff and students. Skype is exceedingly user friendly, and students can use it on a tablet, PC, laptop, or smartphone, from the safety of their homes. Please visit skype.com or the app store for download information.

We ask that parents visit the front desk, or call/email us (306-934-2424/This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.) to be connected with their teacher’s Skype information - please have your Skype account created, as we will need your username. As much as possible, scheduling, billing, and lesson planning will go unaltered. In cases of multiple siblings taking lessons at the same time, we will do our best to adjust our teachers’ schedules so that it is possible for all students to be accommodated. We will automatically hold your original day/time/teacher for whenever we are able to safely conduct lessons in the school once again. We can continue to take lesson payment via pre-authorized visa/mastercard, or by e-transfer at your convenience. For the duration of these distance lessons, we will amend our policy on discontinuing lessons from mandatory two weeks’ notice, to one week’s notice.

We are hopeful that our annual Music Festival can continue at the end of May, but will hold off on making a concrete decision on that until the beginning of May. In light of the difficult past week many students and parents have had with COVID-19 concerns, we will extend our Festival sign-up until March 31st, and will post further details as to how students may register remotely.

COVID-19 is going to create significant hardship for many small businesses, and continuing your lessons with us online will make all of the difference in us being able to continue to share our love of music on the other side of this challenging time.

Sincerely,

The Academy of Music Admin Team
